Four ways to work together.

Every engagement starts with the same thing — evidence. Interviews with your customers, benchmarks against your competitors, a real look at your architecture and your unit economics. Then we decide what to do.

01Technology Value Diagnostic4–8 weeks · fixed feeThe evidence-grade fact base most companies have never had.

Enterprise client interviews, competitor benchmarks, your first true product-line P&L, component-level architecture analysis, unit economics for every platform, and a governance-first screen of any AI ambitions already in flight. Ends in a board-ready readout with a staged investment plan — step by step with checkpoints, not one large upfront ask. You get the fact base, the roadmap, the board deck, and a clear-eyed answer to what technology is actually worth here.

02Fractional CIO / CTO2–8 days/month · 6–12 mo min.Embedded executive leadership, senior enough for the boardroom.

I own the technology agenda, run vendor and spend discipline, mentor or build the team, sit in your leadership meetings, and report to your board. Senior enough for the boardroom, hands-on enough to move things. Where an AI roadmap exists, I own it.

03Deal Work: Diligence and Exit Readiness2–3 wks pre-LOI · 90 days pre-exitWhat you are buying — or what a buyer will find.

Before a deal: what you are buying, what it will cost to fix, what breaks at three times the volume, and which findings belong in the deal model. Before an exit: I run the buyer’s diligence on you first, so findings are surfaced, prioritized and remediated on your timeline instead of discovered on theirs.

04Turning IT Into a Product Line3–6 months, then optionalMost internal technology capability cannot be sold. Some can.

The difference is whether it solves a problem your customers already pay someone else for, whether it can be delivered without bespoke code per account, and whether anyone can produce a P&L for it. The work is value-based tiered pricing instead of time and materials, a product management function that did not previously exist, UX-led development, and a P&L someone owns. I have taken a $900K tech services business to an $11M tech product line at 60% gross margin doing exactly this. I will also tell you quickly when the answer is no.

Pricing.

The Technology Value Diagnostic is a fixed fee, scoped to the number of platforms and the depth of customer research. Everything else is priced per engagement. All of it is meaningfully less than a full-time CIO, and considerably faster to start.

What the first 90 days look like.

Weeks 1–2

Listen

Leadership, the technology team, and — critically — your customers. Most technology assessments never talk to a single customer. That is why they miss what matters.

→ Interview findings

Weeks 3–6

Measure

Architecture, unit economics, spend, compliance posture, competitive benchmarks. Facts, not impressions.

→ Fact base

Weeks 7–8

Decide

A staged plan with checkpoints, sequenced so the early wins fund the later work, presented to the board or the owner in business language.

→ Board readout

Weeks 9–12

Move

Execution starts on the first stage. Nobody waits for the whole roadmap to be perfect.

→ Stage one underway

This is the actual sequence I ran as fractional CTO of the technology product division of a PE-backed $8B+ healthcare distribution business: seven enterprise client interviews, five competitor benchmarks, the company’s first product-line P&L, and unit-economics models for every platform, inside eight weeks. The board approved a staged plan requiring zero incremental sponsor capital.

Capacity

I hold three engagements at a time. That is what makes two to eight days a month real rather than nominal.

When the work is bigger than one person

It usually is. I bring in specialists — security, validation, data engineering — through relationships I have built over twenty years in this industry, scoped and managed by me so you are not sourcing them yourself. I do not mark them up and I do not build a team inside your company that outlives the need for one.

Not sure which one fits?

Thirty minutes. No deck, no pitch.

Bring one technology decision you’re stuck on and we’ll pressure-test it together.
